Joy Clark Associate Provost Dr. Joy L. Clark was asked to serve as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies in November 2011 after serving as Associate Dean of the College (then School) of Business for 8 years. In her time in the Office of the Provost she has also served as Acting Provost and also Interim Director of the Writing Across the Curriculum Program. She has spent her career at Auburn University at Montgomery. As a Professor in the Department of Economics she has had the opportunity to create new courses and partner with her colleagues in the creation of new courses and new programs within the department, the College, and within the University Honors Program. She was recognized as a Distinguished Teaching Professor by AUM in 1999. “I’ve found AUM to be the best kind of challenge. Early in my career my classes were filled with students who worked during the day and attended class at night. I was pushed to create a learning experience that was relevant and worthwhile. This challenge continues today as our students bring perspectives that are fundamentally different from mine. It means that each classroom is a wonderfully rich mix of perspectives and every conversation can be an opportunity to learn.” The Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies oversees the Honors Program, the Registrar’s Office, the Office of Central Advising, the Director the BIS Program, and the Experiential Education and Engagement Center. The Banner Liaison also reports to this office. Clark received her BS in Economics and MS in agricultural economics from Auburn University. She received a PhD in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University.
