French Minor

French Minor

Program Description

The Division of International Studies offers a French minor that will serve to prepare students for study abroad and careers in industry, government and philanthropy. It can also complement your major field of study in preparing for graduate and professional programs.

College graduates who are proficient in French have many advantages in the workforce because French is:

  • Considered a strategic language for global communications in matters of security, health, business, and cultural exchange
  • The official language of 29 countries throughout the globe with 230 million native and non-native speakers
  • The second most spoken language in the European Union and the seventh worldwide

This minor helps students develop the five skills of speaking, reading, writing, listening and cultural competency in the French language.
