Expert to make case for environmental security as top national issue

The joint venture between Auburn University at Montgomery, Auburn University and Air University will address water availability and other environmental concerns

Auburn University at Montgomery/Montgomery, Ala. (Aug. 10, 2017) — Dr. Beverly Ramsey, an expert who contends that environmental security is a top national issue, will lecture Aug. 18 on “The Coming Water Wars — The Strategic Importance of Water, Natural Resources and Environment” at the Futures Laboratory Roundtable.

The roundtable, a think tank that networks and dialogues on problem solving, research and education, national security, economic growth, and curriculum development, is a quarterly gathering of experts from Auburn University at Montgomery, Auburn University, and the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base.

Ramsey also will contend that ecosystems must be addressed as systems, not as distinct resources; that the globe is now a joint venture of natural and human processes (cycles); and that all ecosystems are dependent on water.

Ramsey has more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of environmental sciences and environmental health, including research, operations, risk assessment, risk management, environmental research and development, characterization and remediation, waste management, consulting and teaching throughout the environmental health field.

Ramsey’s passion is soil processes, including decontamination, transport kinetics and mechanisms to sustain ecosystem resilience by supporting critical soils processes in remediation as well as biofuels development and use for community resilience.
