Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Health Sciences
In-Class

If you are passionate about the sciences and plan to apply to medical school—or professional programs in pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, or physical therapy—you’ll need a bachelor’s degree, a set of prerequisite courses, and a team of educators fiercely committed to your success. AUM’s bachelor’s degree program in chemistry with a concentration in Health Sciences serves all three of these needs. AUM knows that chemistry is in the top five most commonly sought majors for medical students and that the subject covers 30% of the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Our professors will coach you through a rigorous program to give you the confidence and know-how to reach your career goals in any professional health field.

Many of our chemistry majors have enjoyed considerable success on application for admissions. You will not be alone in this difficult process. Your personal advisor will work to prepare you for future admissions. After you have successfully maintained a competitive GPA, performed well on the admissions tests, and shadowed experts in the field, AUM’s Health and Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) will recommend you for admissions.

In addition to the Chemistry/Health Sciences program, AUM’s College of Sciences offers two other options for a chemistry major: Chemistry, designed for students who wish to work in government or private laboratories, and Chemistry/Professional, a course of study for students who wish to pursue graduate school or further their career in chemistry.

A degree in chemistry is fiercely challenging, but should not be ignored if it is your true passion. You will find the rewards worthwhile when you begin your career as a respected scientist working with your team on the newest discoveries.
