Taking the MAT
The Miller’s Analogies Test (MAT) is a required entrance exam for many Master’s level graduate programs and some Doctorial programs. The Psychology department here at AUM is a certified testing center of the Psychological Corporation for the computerized version of the MAT. The Department accepts reservations on a daily basis.

Taking the MAT
- The MAT is administered Monday through Thursday. There is a 9:00, 10:30, and 2:00 slot for each day. The MAT takes approximately 1 (one) hour to complete. You must reserve a date and time slot in advance of the date you wish to take the MAT. Please call 334-244-3306 to make your reservation. Due to AUM parking regulations, please be aware that you will need to provide your vehicle make, color, and license number at the time you make your reservation.
The fee for taking the MAT is $75.00. Payment must be check or money order. No cash payment and no credit/debit cards. - At the time of testing, you must present a current Driver’s License or other picture ID for verification of identification purposes.
- The MAT is given in the Psychology Department located on the second floor of Goodwyn Hall in room 210.Goodwyn Hall is the square building located to the right of the big tall Library Tower.
- To obtain a Candidate Information Packet you can go to www.MillerAnalogies.com to request a booklet or to download a booklet. Practice tests are also available at this website.
- You are allowed to have the Psychological Corporation report your results to three schools. This is included in the registration fee. Additional schools or later reports can be added through The Psychological Corporation with an additional fee to be paid to them.
- A study guide, How to Prepare for the MAT by Barron, can be purchased at the AUM Bookstore, or at one of the larger booksellers in Montgomery.
- It is the policy of AUM to provide testing accommodations on the MAT to persons with disabilities. Test takers with disabilities are encouraged to provide reasonable notification and appropriate documentation for MAT testing accommodations to Pearson for approval.
