Preparing Professional Educators

Office of Student Services and Teacher Certification

Professional studies in the College of Education are based on a model that recognizes and prepares teachers as professional educators. The school is committed to providing challenging opportunities for a diverse learning community in a nurturing environment. It is the vision of the College of Education to prepare competent, committed, and reflective professional educators.

The AUM College of Education teacher certification programs are designed to ensure that program graduates are competent, committed and reflective. These programs are in compliance with the Alabama Teacher Certification Code. In addition, we offer an (need the school of education assurance/guarantee policy) that articulates its guarantee with regards to graduates of the teacher education programs. This section includes information about the transition points for students in teacher education programs, the Alabama Educator Certification Testing Program, and required actions for each step of the process.

Please note that all professional education courses (i.e. methods, foundations, and orientations) related to teacher certification must be taken and completed successfully at Auburn University Montgomery. The College of Education will not accept professional education courses from a transfer institution.
