Auburn University at Montgomery/Montgomery, Ala. (August 27, 2015) — Dr. Kimberly Johnson, assistant dean for student engagement and success in Auburn University at Montgomery’s College of Business, was offered a unique invitation to participate in a convening at the White House to discuss how the business community — and business schools — can work together to expand opportunities for women in business and adapt to the changing needs of the 21st century work force.

Johnson attended the Convening on the Working Families Economic Agenda, which was hosted by the White House Council on Women and Girls and the Council of Economic Advisers on Aug. 5, 2015.

“The Convening was inspiring, thought-provoking, and energizing,” said Johnson. “It was a great opportunity to see government, private industry and educational institutions come together to discuss innovative ways to address this pressing need.”

The Convening brought together leaders from the business and business school communities and other stakeholders for a conversation on recruiting, training, and retaining future workplace leaders. The daylong event included panels and breakout sessions where participants shared best practices to ensure that future business leaders are prepared to meet the changing needs of the American work force.

<“It was an honor to be included, to represent AUM’s College of Business, and to play a part in the conversation and continued dialogue on initiatives and best practices to help women succeed throughout their educational and career experiences,” said Johnson.
