Program Description
To operate successfully in a foreign society and culture means understanding that society and culture. The Certificate in American Society and Culture is designed for those who are not from the United States but want to study here and/or do business here. This certificate program is made up of six courses that can be completed online or in the classroom. It can be taken as a stand-alone program or as an excellent companion any degree program.
The three credit-hour courses that fulfill requirements of the certificate are:
Required Courses (9 hours):
HIST 2010 United States History to 1865 (available online)
HIST 2020 United States History since 1865 (available online)
POLS 2020 American National Government (available online)
Three courses from this list:
ENGL 4720 American Short Stories (ENGL 1010 and 1020 are prerequisites for this course.)

COMM 2100 Mass Media in Society (available online)
