Interested in developing your fine arts skills using ceramics as your primary medium? The Department of Fine Arts offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a Ceramics concentration. You’ll get practical, hands-on experience, guided by experienced faculty. Class sizes tend to be small which promotes student and faculty interaction.
The majority of professional ceramicists work as freelancers. They work in studios and design and create ceramic pieces to sell. Some ceramicists open their own stores, while others may sell their pieces at craft co-ops or on the Internet. Teaching is another possible career path for ceramicists. High schools and colleges sometimes hire ceramic professionals to teach classes, and some ceramicists may be able to give private lessons.
The visual arts training this program provides, along with the other liberal arts components of the curriculum, is a solid foundation for jobs in crafts and entrepreneurial endeavors. In the Ceramics program, you can develop your own artistic voice as you develop into a visual artist:
