AUM Venturing Around the Globe

When asked to share highlights of their 2017 summers, AUM’s Office of Global Initiatives is confident that the thirteen students studying abroad in Mexico, England, and Japan will all resoundingly reply, “Studying Abroad with AUM!”

In earlier semesters, each of these thirteen students determined to make the necessary commitments to spend several weeks studying on foreign soil.  Then money was raised, passports were purchased, immunizations were updated, and ultimately each student spent many hours completing the paperwork and orientations necessary to be part of AUM’s Study Abroad programs.  And now, after many months of preparation, each of these students is experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

Dr. Pamela Long is leading a group to Mexico City.  They are pictured (left to right) Ellen Smith, Tara Fenn, Ta’Kyler Barley, Rudolph Munnerlyn, Rachel Pate, and Freeman Elam.  They will have a 15-day educational trip to explore the language and culture in Mexico City, Mexico.

Dr. Seth Reno is leading a group of AUM Warhawks on a literary study abroad tour in England.  They will spend 13 days visiting London, Bath, and Grasmere.  During their stay, they will study the roles of travel and tourism in British literature, with special focus on the celebrity status of William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and William Wordsworth.

AUM Warhawk, Kyra Nichols from the College of Nursing, is heading to Japan through an AUM Study Abroad Exchange program.  She will spend 45 days at the University of Shiga Prefecture experiencing the profound Japanese language and culture.
