Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) has partnered with Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) to create scholarship opportunities and a pathway to earning a bachelor’s degree for transfer students through concurrent enrollment.

The new agreement was signed and finalized by AUM Chancellor Carl A. Stockton and CVCC President Jackie Screws on Tuesday.

As part of the agreement, AUM will provide an unlimited number of transfer scholarships to CVCC students who complete their associate in arts or associate in science degrees and earn admittance to AUM by August 1 each year. Transfer students with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) between 3.0 and 3.49 will receive $1,000 per year, and students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher will be awarded $2,500 per year.

High-achieving CVCC students also will have the opportunity to be awarded AUM’s Presidential Scholarship, which covers full tuition and fees. AUM will award one of the scholarships each year to a CVCC transfer student with a GPA of at least 3.5.

“We’re excited to partner with Chattahoochee Valley Community College to help more Alabama community college students earn a four-year degree at a cost savings to students and their families,” Stockton said. “This partnership represents Auburn University at Montgomery’s continued commitment to serving our communities and developing highly skilled graduates to meet the needs of today’s workforce.”

CVCC students will be guaranteed admission to AUM after earning either an associate in arts, associate in science, or having completed up to 64 credit hours. Additionally, CVCC students will be required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and the same minimum GPA in core curriculum and earned “C” or higher in English Composition I and Composition II courses. The agreement also provides for “reverse transfer,” providing a pathway for students who transferred to AUM before completing associate’s degrees to complete the process.

“We are extremely excited at Chattahoochee Valley Community College to enter into an articulation agreement with Auburn University at Montgomery,” Screws said. “This agreement is one of several that we are aggressively seeking to offer students opportunities to transfer seamlessly to a four-year college in the state of Alabama. We are committed to providing students with the tools they need to be successful, and AUM is a top notch university that pairs well with the high level education we provide here at CVCC. It is especially exciting to be able to offer our students scholarship opportunities through this agreement.”

For students enrolled at CVCC and AUM, the new partnership will provide reciprocal privileges for use of AUM’s library and Wellness Center, as well as admission to AUM athletic events. CVCC also will provide space for students to receive AUM advising and career services on its campus.
