“Around 26 percent of the world’s knowledge can be found in Google, but much of the rest of it is locked up in one or more of our 150 databases,” says Phill Johnson, Dean of the AUM Library.
That’s reassuring, but the really great thing is that you’ll have plenty of help finding the information you’re seeking from the library’s 17 friendly and helpful staff members (including eight full-time librarians). Research isn’t the only focus of the AUM Library, however; it also serves as the center of AUM’s learning community.
Housed in a two-phase building complex which includes a ten-story tower, the library’s collections contain over 500,000 books and 149 current periodical subscriptions. The library also has extensive collections of documents and periodicals on microfilm, a growing collection of manuscripts and archival materials, and a collection of audiovisual materials. The library is a federal documents depository with over one million publications dating from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. It is also the home of the Warhawk Academic Support Center, an integrated set of tutoring and out-of-classroom learning programs that serve the needs of the entire AUM community. As a community resource, the library assists in providing for the informational needs of the greater Montgomery community and the Tri-County area.
Asking for help is not weakness. It’s the only way to succeed.
