SUMMARY:A.V. Storytelling Camp 2026
DESCRIPTION:A.V. Storytelling Camp for rising 9-12 grade high schoolers \nThe College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Communication and Theatre are offering the annual AV Storytelling Camp June 8-11. The four-day intensive camp is open to area high schoolers devoted to producing multimedia stories.\nDiscover podcasting, TV, voice acting, interactive media, news writing and strategic communication while learning the architecture to create memorable media projects for your portfolio. Whether it is a documentary, creative photography or a fictional radio drama, campers can get creative and have fun.\nThe camp is offered free to 24 participants through a generous grant from the Alabama Press Association and the AUM Office of the Provost. The deadline to register is June 1. Complete the online registration form ( https://auburn.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8knrIimcmKS73Ui ).\nAV Storytelling Camp includes: \n\nBreakfast, lunch, snacks\nOff-campus local media tours (transportation through Warhawk Transit)\nGuest speakers – local media professionals\nT-shirt and mini wireless mic\nAn audio and/or video clip to add to your portfolio\n\nFaculty teaching the camp:\nYowei Kang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Theatre, teaches video production and interactive media courses. Dr. Kang’s research focuses on new media design, digital game research, visual communication, new media &amp; political communication campaigns, and experiential rhetoric.\nSam Wallace, Distinguished Senior Lecturer of Theatre for AUM, will be leading the voice acting workshop. He has worked in theatre in the River Region, both professional and community, for 25 years.\nKatherine Irwin, Senior Lecturer of Communication, will be leading the audio workshop. Her background includes working as a radio host and news director, a newspaper reporter and a graphic designer.\nKendra Love, Lecturer of Communication, will be leading the video and photography workshop.
