AUM Cheerleading earns first trip to nationals

Auburn University at Montgomery’s cheerleading team will head to the National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals for the first time in school history.

The event will be held April 8-12 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The team, along with mascot Curtiss the Warhawk, recently competed in the NCA College Nationals at the University of Louisville. Curtiss received the Most Improved Award among college mascots, while the AUM cheerleading team was named the most improved out of 26 teams and earned third place in its division (Large Open Co-ed) for its rally routine.

The team also earned superior ribbons – the highest rating awarded – during evaluations. AUM’s team was one of seven from the NCA College Nationals to earn a “silver paid bid” to the 2020 NCA championship cheer camp.

Move-in volunteers needed
