Reader’s Choice Awards

Auburn University at Montgomery has the opportunity to repeat as the region’s top university in the Montgomery Advertiser’s Reader’s Choice Awards. Cast your vote for AUM as the best college/university in Montgomery and Autauga/Elmore. Find AUM in the Professional Services category under Colleges/Universities. Voting ends July 7.

Move-in volunteers needed

Housing & Residence Life is seeking organizations and individual volunteers to help Warhawks return to their nests in August. Returning students will move in on Thurs., Aug. 15, and new students will land on campus on Fri., Aug. 16. Residents will be allowed to move in from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days.

This is an excellent opportunity to meet new students, connect with potential members for your club or organization, and make a positive impact on the AUM community. This year, volunteers will be encouraged to wear shirts with their AUM organization or departmental branding.

Volunteers will receive a free lunch and a gift identifying them as an AUM Housing volunteer. If you or your organization is interested in participating, please register through the appropriate link below. If you have any questions, please email Housing and Residence Life or call 334-244-3296.

Kinesiology hosts ‘Brain Pump’ camp for kids

Get your child’s body moving and their brain stimulated all at the same time! Join us for Brain Pump Camp this summer! Brain Pump is a children’s group exercise class developed by a physical therapist and kinesiology professor that promotes gross and fine motor skills, core strengthening, coordination, crossing mid-line, balance, and proprioception (body awareness).

The camp, which is open to children ages 4-10 and will be held July 22-25, also includes activities working with different textures, art, music, and projects that offer a full sensory experience. Register at www.neurokineticsolutions.com. Call 334-625-0068 for more information.

AUM Athletics offers sports camps

AUM Athletics will offer summer camps for volleyball, boys’ basketball and softball.

Coach Cheaney’s Basketball Academy will feature boy’s basketball camps for students in grades 1-11 July 29-August 1. Learn more at https://www.coachcheaneybasketballcamp.com/.

The Eric Newell Softball Camps will feature camps for players in grades 7-12 July 3 and 23. Learn more at https://www.ericnewellsoftballcamps.com/.

Alumni Board of Directors accepting nominations

Are you passionate about AUM? Do you want to make a difference? Are you willing to be a leader in the AUM Alumni Association? We invite you to apply for a position on the AUM Alumni Board of Directors.

As the advisory board to the Auburn University at Montgomery Alumni Association, the Alumni Board seeks candidates who are proven leaders, have demonstrated service to the AUM alumni family, are experienced in working in a collaborative environment, and are committed to serving as AUM ambassadors in their communities.

Nominations open for Alumni Professorship

The AUM Alumni Association sponsors an Alumni Professorship to recognize outstanding AUM faculty who best exemplify excellence in teaching, research, scholarly and creative accomplishments, and service.

Current AUM faculty members who have at least 10 years of full-time service at AUM are eligible for this honor. Alumni Professorship recipients will serve a three-year, non-renewable term and receive an annual salary supplement of $2,500.

Fourth of July Cookie Decorating

The Office of Global Initiatives is hosting an event to celebrate the Fourth of July by decorating sugar cookies with red, white, and blue icing and sprinkles. Along with cookie decorating, there will also be USA trivia regarding the significance of the Fourth of July, a game of patriotic bingo, and USA word searches for AUM prizes.

Save the Date: Blue Jean Ball

Make plans to attend the 19th Annual Blue Jean Ball, “Riding into the Sunset” at Pat Dye’s Crooked Oaks Hunting Lodge in Notasulga, AL. The event benefits the AUM School of Nursing and the Auburn University School of Nursing.
