NEWS

UNIV Community Garden

In order to provide students with a wide range of experiences inside and outside the classroom, and as a benefit to the AUM and local community, UNIV has incorporated service-learning into its curriculum. One of these potential learning experiences is the AUM Community Garden located by the soccer intramural fields and walking track.

Students have the opportunity to plan what to plant, prepare the garden, and decide how the food can be used to support the community. One of the goals of this project is for students to gain a deeper understanding of course content in real-life applications and think critically about what it means to be a successful student with an enhanced sense of civic responsibility.

We invite all student, faculty and staff to participate in this endeavor. We currently meet to work Thursday mornings at 9 a.m., but anyone may help at any time convenient. For more information, please email Amy Ingram or call 334-244-3153.
