Bio

Dr. Zhai was born inNanjing, China, and came to AUM in 1991. He holds both the B.A. (1981) and M.A.(1984) degrees from Nanjing University. After coming to the Unites States, heearned a Ph.D. from Ohio University in 1991. Dr. Zhai has published widely withinhis field including two books, China and the Vietnam Wars, 1950-1975(Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 2000) and The Dragon, theLion, and the Eagle: Chinese-British-American Relations, 1949-1958 (KentState University Press, 1994). He is co-editor of The Encyclopedia of theCold War (Routledge, 2008). He has also published many articles inscholarly journals such as the International Journal of Historical Studies,The Journal of Military History, The China Quarterly, The Journalof Cold War Studies, and the Pacific History Review. In recognitionof these many publications, Dr. Zhai was recognized as one of AUM’sDistinguished Research Professors in 1997.
