Dr. Kimberly Johnson, a native of Birmingham, Alabama is the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement and Success and Associate Professor of Management and Human Resource Management in the College of Business at Auburn University Montgomery.  She received her doctorate degree in Human Resource Management and Organizational Analysis and Change from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Dr. Johnson also holds two Masters of Science degrees from Auburn University in Human Resource Management and Agricultural Economics.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from Tennessee State University.


As the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement and Success, Dr. Johnson has an opportunity to focus on the co-curricular activities for students as well as student retention issues.  Through the Office of Student Engagement and Success, students receive career services such as job postings, internships, career development workshops, and opportunities to network with professionals in the community. Additionally, Dr. Johnson oversees the Freshman Advisory Board, College of Business Ambassadors, and the College of Business Advisory Board - Engagement Committee.


Over the course of her career she has had an opportunity to teach both traditional and nontraditional students.  Dr. Johnson’s primary teaching responsibilities are Management of Organizations, Organizational Behavior, and Small Business Management.  Dr. Johnson has also taught in the Executive MBA program. Dr. Johnson has experience delivering her courses in a variety of methods such as online, hybrid, and in a traditional classroom setting.


Regarding her research endeavors, Dr. Johnson has given numerous presentations and has had her work published in the proceedings of several journals and accepted for publication in other journals. Several of Dr. Johnson’s research projects are in collaboration with colleagues from fields such as Information Systems, Sociology, and Marketing.


Dr. Johnson also contributes to the academic community through her service.  For the 2012-2013 academic year, Dr. Johnson received the prestigious Service Award from the AUM College of Business. She is a current member of the Faculty Senate and College of Business Strategic Planning Committee.  She has also served on the University Writing Across the Curriculum Committee, the University Strategic Planning Committee, Core Curriculum Oversight Committee, and Senate Rules Committee.  As a member of her professional community, Dr. Johnson has served as a Conference Chair, Reviewer, and has attended numerous conferences such as the Southwest Academy of Management, Academy of Management, and the Intellectbase International Consortium.
