| Dr. Bulman was born
in Syracuse, New York and raised in Wisconsin and Michigan. She became
interested in medieval history after living in France as a child. Dr. Bulman's
research draws on medieval ecclesiastical court records from the French diocese
of Mende in the county of the Gevaudan, which she uses to investigate cultural
topics. Her book, The Court Book of Mende
and the Secular Lordship of the Bishop, concerns the maintenance of
historical memory in the county of the Gevaudan. Her current project explores
the dissemination of magical texts in the Gevaudan. When she is not happily
combing through medieval court records, Dr. Bulman enjoys walking her dog
Aurelius, listening to the music of J S Bach, and traveling in Europe. |
