Dr. David R. Lange is a Distinguished Teaching and Research Professor of Finance, recognized as a Fellow of the Academy of Economics & Finance (2012) for his Career Professional Contributions. Recent publications representing his teaching/research interests are ‘An Innovative Method to Teaching Enterprise Risk Management- A Learner-Centered Teaching Approach’, Chapter 2 in Implementing Enterprise Risk Management (2015) and an‘Applied LIFE INSURANCE Illustrator – Learning by Doing: Instruction Manual& Exercises’ (2013). He has been invited to present at the Chicago Board of Trade Educational Seminar, the Actuarial Teaching and Research Conference (Leeds, UK), the International Conference on WTO & Financial Engineering (Hangzhou, China), and an Actuarial Course Seminar (Shanghai, China).
Since joining the AUM Finance Faculty in 1989, hehas received the School of Business Award for Excellence in Teaching (1993),University Distinguished Teaching Professor (1996), FMA Financial Education Competitive Paper Award (1998) and Academy of Economics and Finance Teaching Fellow (2001). His CBOT trading simulation program and teaching philosophy was a featured article in AUM - Yesterday - Today - Tomorrow, Celebrating 30 Years (2000).
His research has merited the AUM School of Business Award for Excellence in Research (1995), American College Outstanding PaperAward in Insurance (1995), Edward L. and Catherine K. Lowder -Adolph Weil Professorship and Chair of the Applied Life Insurance Education & Research Program, 2001-2004, and AUM University Distinguished Research Professor (2006).His publications include the Journal of Risk and Insurance, North American Actuarial Journal, Financial Services Review, Journal of Financial Planning, Journal of Legal Economics, Advances in Financial Education, Financial Practice and Education, Journal of Economics and Finance Education, Journal of the Academy of Business Education, Southern Business & Economic Journal, Journal of Management and over 40 proceedings.
Professionally Dr. Lange has served as: an Academy of Economics & Finance Association Director, Program Chair (2002), and President (2004); an Academy of Financial Services Director, Program Chair(2009), and President (2010); as well as Executive Director (2007-2014) and VP-Finance (2014-present) for the Eastern Finance Association. He was an academic adviser for the development of the Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional calculator. He has been an active consultant, providing financial analysis,valuation, and testimony in State and Federal Court.
