     Barr D. Younker, Jr. is an associate professor in the Justice and Public Safety Department of Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM).  He teaches primarily in the areas of criminal procedure, criminal law, family law, and paralegal studies.  He is a retired Air Force colonel who has also been a licensed attorney for over 22 years and a member of the Alabama State Bar since 2008.  As an attorney, he has participated in the prosecution or defense of over 1,000 criminal actions in various military, federal, state, and city courts and forums.  He has published over a dozen articles and legal papers in forums such as the Journal of Gang Research, The Alabama Lawyer and before the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals.  One legal paper recently written on behalf of an indigent defendant serving a 20-year sentence for armed robbery and aggravated assault resulted in a reversal of the conviction and sentence and led to the defendant’s subsequent acquittal on all charges.  He is a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Montgomery County Bar Association and serves as a board member with Central Alabama Crimestoppers and with the Command and Staff College of the Montgomery Police Department.
