Luis SarmientoWarhawk Spotlight: Sarmiento earns Alabama Technology Foundation scholarship

Senior information systems management major Luis Sarmiento earned one of three scholarships presented by the Alabama Technology Foundation to university students in the information technology and engineering sectors. Sarmiento plans to parlay his AUM education into a career in the banking or big data sectors. Read more for details

AUM professor explores relationship between altitude and suicide risk

Geography professor Hoehun Ha and research partners examined 3,064 contiguous U.S. counties and their respective elevation levels to assess whether there is a significant link between altitude and suicide. Their study found that, for each increase of 100 meters in altitude, suicide rates increase by 0.4 per 100,000 residents. Read more for details


Auburn University at Montgomery’s accreditation was reaffirmed this week by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for the next 10 years. Auburn University at Montgomery is accredited by SACSCOC to award bachelor’s, master’s, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.
