Annual AUM Liberal Arts Conference features a variety of academic presentations, plus art and music
Auburn Montgomery is hosting scholars from institutions across the region on Friday and Saturday for the AUM Liberal Arts Conference, an interdisciplinary conference focusing on Southern Studies. Scholars from 17 states and the District of Columbia are slated to present a variety of academic papers on topics ranging from Southern history to literature to The Help.
In addition, the conference includes musical, art, and theatre events. On Friday evening, Pamela-Teresa Burns, soprano, and Joel Jones, piano, will perform “A Selection of Spirituals and Music by Southern Composers” in Goodwyn 109 from 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The public is welcome to this free performance.
The event also features an art exhibition and gallery talk by artist Zdenko Krtic, who works with large-scale mixed media visual art. A selection of his works may be viewed on display in Goodwyn Hall 101.
