On April 23, Army ROTC, the Counseling Center, the Office of Orientation and Transitions, and the Office of Accountability and Advocacy hosted National Denim Day at AUM. On this day, everyone around the nation was asked to wear denim to support sexual assault awareness. Denim Day came into existence after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction "because the victim wore very, very tight jeans, she had to help him remove them, and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual sex." Not only were people asked to wear denim, they were also asked to make a pledge to help prevent sexual assaults and harassment. AUM had a great turnout, with 249 students, faculty and staff making the pledge.
