Curious about Cuba? Get a rare glimpse of the country in November 2014 by joining a trip organized by the Alabama World Affairs Council, led by Auburn Montgomery Professor James Nathan, a noted scholar on the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Held Nov. 8-15, participants will engage with political scientists, economists, entrepreneurs and artists in Cuba and visit a clinic, school and organic farm cooperative. Each day will be filled with numerous sightseeing and interpersonal exchanges with a variety of specialists and ordinary citizens. The group will charter a flight from Miami to Havana and spend five nights in Havana and two in Trinidad, a well-preserved Spanish colonial town and UNESCO World Affairs site.

Nathan serves as the Khalid bin Sultan Eminent Scholar in AUM’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration. He has authored seven books on U.S. foreign and security policy including “The Cuban Missile Crisis Revisited,” which was cited by The Washington Post as "mandatory reading for policymakers at all levels.” He is executive director of the Alabama World Affairs Council and a retired Foreign Service officer.

The trip is a joint venture between the World Affairs Councils of Alabama and Philadelphia. Learn more at www.awac.us or by contacting Dahdee Bullen at 334-244-3337.
