Undergraduate Research Symposium
The second annual School of Sciences Undergraduate Rearch Symposium was a huge success. We had 17 presentations and over 60 participants. The winners of this years competitions were:

2009 UGR Abstract Book
Presentation Criteria
All undergraduates, currently or previously, taking part in research projects in tne AUM School of Sciences are elligible to present. Graduate students are kindly asked not to submit abstracts. Projects as well as the preperation of the talk or poster should be the primary responsibility of the student. The student is required to present the poster or talk, research mentors are kindly asked to stand aside on the day of the presentation.
Students may present more than once, but are asked to choose one presentation to be considered for an award.
Posters:
All posters must be 4' x 4' or smaller. They will be presented on peg boards. Posters can be printed for free at the Auburn University Library and the School of Sciences, Science Computing Center. If you are using the School of Sciences printer, your poster must have a light background. Inexpensive poster printing is also availabe at SignWorld and Optaprint. If you need help printing your poster please contact your Departmental Representative. Posters must be hung by 8:00 am the day of the symposium. Please note the number accompanying your name in the schedule. You will be asked to hang your poster by your number on the provided peg boards.
Poster Evaluation Form
Talks:
All talks must be prepared using PowerPoint. Each group will be allotted 10 minutes with 5 minutes for questions to follow. A microphone and laptop (PC) will be provided. Your talk must be loaded on the computer by 8:00 am the day of the symposium.
Awards:
There will be a $100 cash prize for the best presentation in each category, $75 for second prize, and $50 for third prize. Winning papers will be asked to compete for the Undergraduate Research Award (see below).
Undergraduate Research Award:
The presenters of the top three talks and the top three posters will be asked to submit a full written paper to the Undergraduate Research Committee. The paper can be formatted in the apropriate format for the field, but should be written clearly, contain all relevant data, and have appropriate citations. The winner will be announced at the School of Sciences Honors Day Luncheon. Winner of the Undergraduate Research Award will be presented with an additional $100 cash prize and their, as well as their mentors, name will be placed on a plaque in the Dean's office.

2008
