Monday, February 24
9 AM | Chancellor’s Cup Event No. 1 --- Mural Walk Pregame l Homecoming Headquarters (Quad)
Each day throughout the week of homecoming, there will be a team competition event. The Chancellor’s Cup Trophy will be awarded on Saturday, February 29, 2020, after the Homecoming Court Coronation. We encourage participation and suggest at least 11 teams of two-to-four members participate in an outstanding competition. Organizations may submit their entire club roster, but only two-to-four members may participate at a time.
This year’s opening event calls for teams to decorate their own mural, incorporating their philanthropy organization in the design, using the paint, paper, and pallet easel provided. Each team can use supplies provided by Homecoming Headquarters if they choose.
Teams are encouraged to work on their murals on the quad, but welcome to take their materials and design at their leisure. All murals should be submitted no later than Friday at noon to the Homecoming Headquarters tent located on the Quad. All murals will be displayed at tailgating on Saturday.
9 AM | Call for Capsule l Homecoming Headquarters (Quad)
What do you want people in the future to know about you and your university? In celebration of AUM’s 50 Years of Serving Students, we will be burying a time capsule during the week of Homecoming on Thursday, Feb. 27. Bring your organization’s unique items, swag, clothing, signage, pictures, or other items to place in the capsule. Organizations are called to bring a unique object to put in the time capsule. The item cannot be made of degradable items, and can be no larger than eight inches in diameter.

All teams competing for the week will gather in the Cafe area, get a free t-shirt and hear from the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership on the details for the week. Teams must check in at the Homecoming Headquarters Table in the cafe.
2 PM | Chancellor’s Cup Event No. 3 - Homecoming Blood Drive Sponsored by College of Nursing and Health Sciences and AUM Athletics l Taylor Center 230
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences will host a blood drive as part of the week’s festivities. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Chancellor Cup teams should check-in at the Homecoming Headquarters table at the site to earn points for giving and saving lives with their donation. This year the drive will be on one day only. The event is jointly sponsored by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and AUM Athletics.
4 PM | Homecoming Court Orientation and Head Shots l Warhawk Alley
All Homecoming Court members must attend an informational about expectations and the week’s events. An AUM photographer will be on hand to take portraits of each nominee to post on the website for Homecoming Court voting.
5 PM | Homecoming Court Campaigning Begins, Voting begins Wednesday
Homecoming court nominees are encouraged to begin their campus-wide campaigning. See the Homecoming packet for official campaigning rules.
6 PM | AUM Alum - Mayor Timothy Ragland - First Ever African American and Youngest (28) Mayor of Talladega, AL l Goodwyn 109
AUM alumnus Tim Ragland (’17) was elected Talladega’s youngest and first African-American mayor in November 2019. The AUM community and general public are invited to join Ragland for a discussion about his experience running for office and what he has learned on the journey. Learn more about Ragland and his journey.
AUM alumnus Chris Searcy (’18), a popular journalist with Alabama News Network (WAKA TV) and the host of “Good Morning Chris,” will moderate the meet and greet with Mayor Ragland. Searcy, a second generation Nigerian immigrant, majored in political science at AUM (2018). Searcy will conduct a very lively interview of Mayor Ragland and take plenty of questions from the audience.
7 PM | Black History Month Game Night Sponsored by CAB/NPHC/NAACP/BSU l Library Tower, 10th Floor
The AUM community is invited to attend a fun night of games and trivia! Food will be provided. The event is hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB), the Black Student Union (BSU) and AUM chapters of the National PanHellenic Council (NPHC) and National Association of the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Everyone is welcome and Chik-fil-A will be on site!

2 PM | SGA Mardi Gras Parade l AUM Athletics Complex-Quad-Taylor Center Parking Lot
In honor of Homecoming at AUM in years’ past — and in celebration of Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras — SGA will be hosting a parade through campus for all students, faculty, and staff that wish to take part. The parade route will run directly through the heart of campus. The parade begins at the Grove and follows a trail alongside Taylor Center through the Quad and concludes behind the AUM Athletics Complex. All clubs, organizations and student groups are encouraged to participate. To participate, register here.
3 PM | Chancellor’s Cup Event No. 4 - “Friends of Curtiss’ Act of Service” l Nursing Building – Moore Hall Patio
It's Curtiss Appreciation Day! This homecoming activity is about creativity, sustainability, and giving back. Bird houses and feeders will be available for everyone to build and paint for the fine feathered friends of our mascot, Curtiss the Warhawk. Houses and feeders will later be hung around campus. Teams check-in with the Homecoming Headquarters table at the event.
7 PM | CAB Masquerade Ball l Taylor Center 230
Join the Campus Activities Board as they celebrate Fat Tuesday in style. Students are invited to the Homecoming Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball in Taylor Center. 12 - 12:45 PM | Chancellor’s Cup Event No. 5 – AUMazing Race & Lunch for Participants l Homecoming Headquarters Tent (Quad)
Have you ever seen the TV Show “Amazing Race”? This event is very similar and offers teams the chance to display their knowledge of AUM history, academic challenges and spirit and traditions while racing against time. Team costumes are encouraged. The race will consist of five events. The individual competitions will consist of an egg race, a jigsaw puzzle, singing the school fight song, a relay race, and a secret surprise activity! All teams meet at the Homecoming Headquarters tent located on the quad. Lunch will be served and the conclusion of the race! Sit back, enjoy, and GO!

Do you think you have what it takes to knock it out of the park? Test how strong your swing is at the Whiffle Ball Home Run Derby. Spaces are limited, and first come and first serve. Peanuts and Cracker Jacks will be provided.
2:30 PM | AUM Softball vs. Tuskegee with Softball Bingo! l Softball Field
Join us for the AUM Warhawk vs. Tuskegee Softball matchup. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to come out and watch the Warhawks take on Tuskegee at home in softball. Snacks will be provided, and as an extra incentive, Softball Bingo! Special prizes and treats will be awarded!

Service is at the heart of all the homecoming events this year, and in this event, your organization/team has a chance to give to the philanthropy of its choice. Jars will be set near each organization’s square with the goal of collecting pennies to donate to your philanthropy. The teams with the most pennies will be awarded first place Chancellor’s Cup points.
10 AM l Higher Education and Advocacy Day l Transportation Provided with Breakfast and Lunch
Advocacy in Action! Join students from across campus to advocate for AUM at the state’s Higher Education Day in downtown Montgomery. Transportation will be provided! AUM will join other schools from across the state in this day of advocacy in Alabama. Let's represent AUM well! Higher Education and Advocacy Day is designed to remind our lawmakers about the importance and impact of higher education in our state. The event is held at the state capitol in Montgomery. Students will march in a parade to the capitol. Those interested in participating can register online here.
We ask that those participating arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. Location will be delivered via email to registrants. SGA will provide a light breakfast and lunch will be served at the event.

Who doesn’t like a good NERF battle? All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to battle it out and participate. You and your friends can ease into the weekend by coming out for a free lunch and fun. NERF spring-powered blasters, darts and balls provided — along with safety glasses. Pizza will be served!

3 PM | Time Capsule l Quad
JJoin us as we leave our mark on the future by placing a time capsule celebrating AUM’s 50 years of serving students into the ground near the Quad. The capsule will be made up of items submitted earlier in the week and will be closed off with a special seal for the occasion.
5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m | CAB Basketball Night presented by AUM Intramurals l Wellness Center
The evening will open up with a Faculty/Staff vs. Alumni basketball game before kicking into a mini-tournament. Teams will play 12-minute games with six-minute halves in single-elimination tournament style until a champion is crowned. Registration for teams is here. There will be seating available. This event is presented by AUM Intramural Sports.The winning team will receive a trophy and player medals.

6 - 9 PM | Chancellor’s Cup Event No. 7 - SGA Bonfire and Athletic Pep Rally l Behind Ida Belle Young Library Tower
Join us for this long-time AUM Homecoming tradition: The Bonfire. And this year, it will be one to remember. Join the AUM Student Government Association as they bring the Warhawk Nation together for the annual homecoming pep rally and concert. Live music featuring DJ Frosty, free food (including chili and a hot chocolate bar) and a celebration of all things AUM will be only a small part of the festivities. All teams competing in the Chancellor’s Cup will earn points for each team member that attends and dressed in AUM spirited attire.
What makes this year better than all the rest? This year, there will be lighting, a stage, DJ, food and beverages, and your AUM cheerleaders, dance team and basketball teams! It's a Bonfire to remember!

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will be hosting a Tent Party next to the SGA Bonfire and AUM Athletics Pep Rally with music and fun.
SATURDAY, February 29

Calling all Warhawks, past, present, and future. The annual tailgate is a community gathering before the men’s and women’s Basketball games where students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and neighbors can bond over channeling the Warhawk spirit. AUM family and friends of all ages and alumni classes are encouraged to bring their tents, chairs, picnic baskets, camp stoves, and coolers (non-alcoholic beverages only) and join the fun. See the AUM women’s basketball team take on Valdosta State for Senior Day! At halftime, the moment students have been waiting for... the announcement of the Chancellor Cup winners.
- Women’s Half time – Chancellor’s Cup/ Partners Winning teams will be presented with a giant check for $500 to first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third place.
