About Us

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

We are delighted to learn of your interest in Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM).  The decisions you make over the next few months will be a significant first step in your upcoming education abroad experience; we appreciate the fact that you are giving AUM serious consideration as your choice of institution of higher learning in the United States.

While there are many good universities you might attend, we'd like to offer some reasons why AUM could be the right choice for you.  AUM affords international students some unique opportunities, both in and out of the classroom.  For example, we work to maintain a lower faculty to student ratio than larger universities; our ratio averages 1:18.  This means you'll have a much more personal interaction with your professors, which impacts the quality of your education.

AUM and it's schools are also fully recognized and accredited by important accreditation agencies, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - another very important factor in the quality of your education.  AUM has high education standards, supported by our selection as a "Best College in Regional Universities (South - 2013)" to pursue a degree, our rank among the top five percent globally as attested to by accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, and our recognition as a "Best Business School" by the Princeton Review.

Our international students are an important part of our campus, making AUM a truly global community. There are several different international student organizations, and throughout the year these groups offer a variety of cultural and educational programs for both the campus and Montgomery communities. Montgomery has a good deal to offer as well - all sorts of domestic and international dining options; great shopping; parks; Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts; Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum; a minor league baseball team; and a good deal more. Most importantly, Montgomery is a safe, family-friendly environment.

A picturesque example of America's southern living experience, Montgomery is also centrally located and offers easy access by car to many cultural centers throughout the south.  It's only about 1.5 hours from Birmingham, Ala.; 2.5 hours from Atlanta, Ga.; 3 hours from the beaches of the Gulf Coast; and 4 hours from New Orleans, La.

The staff of Global Initiatives is committed to your success and is renowned for it's "student-centered" service - you'll be home away from home.  Please feel free to contact us at 1-334-244-3758 or rblaesin@aum.edu.  We also encourage you to visit our website that provides information on a range of subjects of interest to prospective international students: http://www.aum.edu/international.

Best wishes for your future success.

Sincerely,

Global Initiatives
