English as a Second Language


In Classroom TESOL Certificate Program


The program enables individuals from any educational background to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages in the United States or abroad. Participants will receive a TESOL Certificate upon completion of the four courses.

Courses 
    •  Approaches and Methods in Language Teaching
    •  Culture and Language
    •  Practicum
    • Online courses: Each participant is required to complete one of the elective online courses listed below.
    • An Introduction to Corpora in English Language Teaching  
  • Practical Ideas for the Adult ESL/EFL Classroom
    • An Introduction to Language Assessment in the K-12 Classroom
  • Teaching ESL/EFL Grammar
    • An Introduction to Teaching English to Young Learners
  • Teaching ESL/EFL Reading 
    • Developing ESL/EFL Listening Comprehension
  • Teaching ESL/EFL Vocabulary
    • Language Learning Technologies for K-12 Teachers

 

Admission Requirement

    • Have a good command of written and spoken English

Course Requirements

    • Attend all classes in the TESOL curriculum
    • Successfully complete the assignments and the final project

Schedule:
Upcoming Program: September 27, 2012 – March 28, 2013

Fall Semester: September 27, 2012 – December 18, 2012

Thanksgiving Holidays: November 22 and 23

Christmas Holidays:  December 19, 2012 – January 16, 2013

Spring Classes Begin on January 17, 2013

Spring Semester: January 17, 2013 – March 28, 2013

Spring Break and Project Prep (2 weeks):  March 4, 2013 – March 15, 2013

$1590
Early Registration Fee and Date: before August 25th - $1550

Fee includes three courses, one online course, textbooks, and handouts. To receive a refund, cancellation must be made within ten working days prior to the start date of the program
