Questions about Admissions

Applicants must have completed the equivalent of a United States’ bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in order to be eligible for graduate study at Auburn University at Montgomery.

The Admissions Committee will review each applicant’s GMAT/GRE score and undergraduate and/or graduate (where applicable) academic performance in making this determination.

Please see the MBA webpage for information concerning the academic background requirements and the MSMIS webpage for program requirements.

The EMBA program requires at least five years of professional experience, but requires no formal prerequisite coursework. The Graduate Committee will review each applicant’s work experience and undergraduate and/or graduate (where applicable) academic performance in making the determination for acceptance into this program.

You should submit your completed application as early in the admission cycle as possible. Applications for the MSISM and MBA programs are processed year-round.

  • Click to https://www.aum.edu/apply and complete the online application process.
  • Request official transcripts from all universities attended.
  • Submit official GMAT scores or register for the test at www.mba.com.
  • Check with the College of Business for GMAT/GRE Waiver information.

Once you have submitted your online application, the Graduate Admissions Office will process that application.  When they receive all your academic transcripts, they will contact the evaluator in the College of Business.  The evaluator then will determine the appropriate GMAT/GRE score needed for the student and determine if the applicant has met all academic prerequisites for the program.  The application is not deemed complete until the appropriate official score have been received.  We do offer provisional admissions for students with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and have met the academic prerequisites.  The evaluator will determine eligibility and contact the student.

You’ve already begun the process by browsing our website. You may also contact Jennifer Taylor, Assistant Director of Graduate Programs at 334-244-3587, or David Ang, Department Head of of the Department of Information Systems and Academic Director for the MSISM program at 334-244-3455.

Unlike traditional graduate programs that only allow students to start in the fall semester, our MBA and MSISM programs offer the flexibility to start classes within a semester of your acceptance into our programs. Once you meet the requirements, you can start classes sooner rather than having to wait until next fall.

Our EMBA students move as a cohort with classes beginning in May each year.

Our graduate class schedule is designed for our students who are already working full-time. We listened to our students who wanted the face-to-face interaction with classmates and professors while needing the convenience and flexibility of online courses. By implementing the Learning Management System Blackboard 9, we offer classes that can deliver content online and with face-to-face meetings in a hybrid format. This makes it possible to be a full-time graduate student while only having to be on campus one or two nights per week.

Our EMBA classes meet every-other Saturday for the year; a total of 20 meeting days.

Yes. Our College of Business is accredited by the AACSB. To quote the AACSB web site:

“AACSB Accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than 5% of the world’s 13,000 business programs have earned AACSB Accreditation. AACSB-accredited schools produce graduates that are highly skilled and more desirable to employers than other non-accredited schools.”

Questions About Being an International Student

No. AUM does not count the 12-3 curriculum as equivalent to a US bachelor’s degree nor will an additional year of education suffice. Those who have gone through a 12-3 program must also secure a 2-year Masters degree or a two year, full-time PGDM from an institution recognized by the university in order to be qualified for admission to the EMBA Program.

If you have earned a degree at a US institution or at an institution in a country whose native language is English (i.e. Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, English-speaking Canada, etc.), you will be waived from the TOEFL exam. Otherwise, all international students are required to take the TOEFL and submit their scores. TOEFL scores are valid two years.

Yes, you can have an admission recommendation made on your file without submitting your certification of finance form. Please be aware a formal admission decision cannot be rendered and an I-20 visa application cannot be produced until your financial documentation is received.
