Instructional Support Lab


The Instructional Support Lab (ISL) provides FREE tutoring for students enrolled in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics or general science courses. Tutorial services are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointments are necessary.

Available Resources 

  • Internet-accessible Gateway computers with Microsoft Office® programs 
  • Interactive computer tutorials for biology, chemistry and math courses 
  • Multimedia programs for help with science courses
  • Sample tests, study notes, lab directions and solutions manuals for many classes
  • A copier (10¢ per copy)

About Our Tutors

Our tutorial staff are upperclassmen who have demonstrated excellence in the sciences and meet the following criteria: 

  • Excellent references from faculty

  • High cumulative GPAs
  • Ability to communicate well with others

  • Enjoy helping others

NEW! ONLINE TUTORING FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN ONLINE SECTIONS OF FINITE MATHEMATICS

If you are enrolled in an online finite mathematics course, then you are eligible to receive free online tutoring in finite mathematics. (Students not enrolled in an online section of finite mathematics are not eligible for this service.)

The PowerPoint addresses the technical details regarding the necessary computer software/hardware that is needed for tutoring to take place online.

*The online tutoring service operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Each tutoring session is limited to 50 minutes. Please call during the times listed to set up a tutoring session.

Test Proctoring


Test proctoring is available for students taking science courses.

  • Bring a picture I.D.
  • Once you begin the test, you may not leave the ISL even to go to the restroom.
  • All books and personal items will be placed in safe-keeping with the staff before testing begins.

Please keep in mind this is a tutorial center, and talking during make-up tests will occur. The ISL offers test proctoring for professors who cannot otherwise arrange for their students to make up tests.
