Building a More Sustainable Campus

Auburn University at Montgomery is committed to becoming a more responsible corporate citizen by integrating sustainability initiatives into all aspects of university activity. To reduce our negative impact on the environment, we created the Campus Sustainability Initiative Committee in 2008 and assigned it the task of developing long-term and short-term goals, as well as action plans that would lead to a more sustainable AUM campus.

The Sustainability Committee continues to develop new green projects and educational programming for the campus.

Connect to the Mission- Join the Green Team

The Green Team is a student-governed organization that encourages, educates, and effects sustainability activism in and around our campus. We encourage ownership of both collective and individual ecological responsibility through structural and cultural change. We are idea people who get our hands dirty. Green Team imprints a vital and lasting consciousness upon AUM’s ever-growing and forward-thinking pursuit of environmental stewardship as a lifestyle. Cooperation with the university and other student groups is essential to achieving Green Team’s goals.

We encourage any students and faculty members who are interested in promoting a sustainable lifestyle to join Green Team. This is a great way to meet people who will support you and nourish individual as well as population growth. Green Team is not limited to AUM faculty and students, we encourage people from the surrounding communities to become members and advocate for positive change and upkeep within and around the area.
