Global Education Center
Taylor Center 219-220
Student Affairs and the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs proudly present the Global Education Center at Auburn Montgomery. The Global Education Center (GEC) is a space for all diversity planning, programming, exploration, and/or assessment as it relates to AUM and its contributions to teaching and learning. This space is designed to be available to student groups and others whose mission statements and practices reflect AUM’s commitment to promoting global education.
The GEC’s calming ambiance provides an excellent setting for critical conversations and potentially “difficult dialogues.” Formerly known as the International Student Lounge, the Center transitioned in 2014 to support Auburn Montgomery’s new Strategic Plan, helping expand the University’s philosophy and practice of holistic diversity and multi-cultural education programming. This space is also an intersection for diverse sections of Auburn Montgomery, i.e. academic, administrative, the theoretical, the practical, etc. A work in progress, the Center just completed phase I of a three-phase renovation initiative. Students use the space for meetings, discussions, and as a respite site between classes.
The area will be available to all AUM faculty, administrators, and students whose programming reflects any aspect of diversity seminars, social justice discussions, and/or international conversations.
The Center can accommodate two groups of up to twenty (20) people each (in separate space) for discussions, receptions, etc.
