Campus welcomes new residence hall

by User Not Found | Aug 26, 2013
AUM kicked off the fall semester on Aug. 12 with the grand opening of Warhawk Hall, a new five-story, 144,740-square-foot residence hall located near the main entrance to campus, across from the Wellness Center.

Despite the harried pace on the first day of classes, hundreds of students, alumni, faculty, and staff gathered to celebrate the opening of the new addition to campus. Speakers included Dr. John Veres, AUM Chancellor; Clark Sahlie, Auburn Trustee; Daryl Morris, Director of Housing and Residence Life; Alex Hood, SGA President; and Todd Strange, Mayor of the City of Montgomery.

"Warhawk Hall is not a dormitory, it's a residential community that changes the face of our campus," Chancellor Veres said. "With Warhawk Hall and the Wellness Center book-ending the main entrance to campus, AUM's student-centered focus is evident from the moment one arrives on campus."

Joining the Courtyards, built in the 1970s as the first housing offered on campus, and the Commons, which opened in 2003, Warhawk Hall takes campus living to a new level. In addition to providing much-needed housing, it boasts a two-story recreational center - The Nest - which offers all housing residents across campus a new place to study and take part in student activities.

The building was designed and constructed by Williams Blackstock Architects and B.L. Harbert International. It is fully occupied this fall. View rates and floor plans at
