Curtiss recognized as Best Up and Coming mascot at UCA Collegiate Camp

by User Not Found | Aug 01, 2013
AUM mascot Curtiss the Warhawk was awarded Best Up and Coming Program and Excellent and Superior ribbons at the Universal Cheerleading Association's College Spirit Camp held at the University of Alabama last week. He was one of 46 mascots and 1,400 collegians to participate in the national event.

Curtiss continues to garner attention from UCA mascot instructors, having received Best All-Around First Year Program when he attended his first UCA camp in July 2012. The mascot arrived on the AUM campus on Feb. 2, 2012 – Groundhog Day. Students named the friendly bird of prey Curtiss in honor of Montgomery’s aviation history and the Curtiss P-40 aircraft from the World War II era.

Curtiss is known for his strength, courage, intelligence and great vision. One of his most remarkable qualities is his "never say die" personality. He is also a bit mischievous and flirtatious. In his spare time, Curtiss loves to defy gravity – performing sky dives and other aerobatic tricks flying high above AUM’s 500-acre campus. When he’s not cheering on the AUM Warhawks or attending classes, he is active in the local community.
