The Central Alabama district of the American Red Cross recently recognized those who give back to their communities by volunteering for the organization. The following AUM faculty and students were honored at the Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony.

Dr. Paul Hard, Associate Professor of Counseling
Community Partner of the Year

Dr. Jill Rawlings, Distinguished Teaching Professor of Physical Science
Blood Services Award

Tahesia Whigham, nursing major
Blood Services Award

Ayanna Wilson, nursing major
Volunteer Services Award

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The Alabama region is broken down into four geographical districts. The Central Alabama district provides programs and services to the citizens of a 13-county area including Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chilton, Dallas, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike and Wilcox counties.

Red Cross would like to start a youth club on campus to get more AUM students involved in the organization and needs a faculty or staff member to take the lead. For more information on this or to volunteer individually for Red Cross, contact Central Alabama’s volunteer specialist, Sandy Zuiderhoek, at 334-260-4022 or
