Belize has the lowest population density in Central America. AUM Warhawks implement a short-term international study abroad program on child advocacy in the Toledo and Stann Creek districts of Belize. It was an opportunity for students to enhance global perspectives and to participate in in-depth cross-cultural examinations from social work, anthropological and historic theoretical frames of global, social, and economic issues of development.
China, the world’s most populous country, has profound culture and history. AUM students were able to have the travel and learning experience to China during summer. From Chinese language and culture study, to fantastic cities and historical sites visit, students did not only see gorgeous scenery, but also learn and experience the Chinese traditional and modern culture.
A beautiful country located in central America has great rainforest species. AUM Study Abroad Costa Rica Rainforest Ecology Program sent students to experience field research methods in the lowland rain forest and highland cloud forest habitats of the wilderness.
The northwestern South America country – Ecuador has a long history that its territory was colonized by Spain during the 16th century. AUM students had a chance to look at the culture and work on an archaeological research project at two universities – Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral and Universidad Técnica de Manabí.
England –Architecture Appreciation Trip
England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom with many significant ancient standing stone monuments. AUM Warhawks visited four major medieval cathedrals in northern England – Durham, Lincoln, York and Beverley, and had an in-depth understanding of the most important and transcendent locus of life in the Middle Ages, the Gothic Cathedral.
England – Literature Trip
England is a long-history country on Earth with many world famous British authors. AUM students had a two-week trip to England to study Jane Austen in Bath, William Shakespeare in London, William Wordsworth in Grasmere.
England – Re-Inklings Trip
Inklings is a group of British authors based in Oxford, England in the 1930s and 1940s. AUM students took two-week Re-Inklings trip to visit the sites of literary and historical significance to learn better of the Inklings’ spirit and the nature of the Inklings’ writings.
European Union, a political entity comprising the largest single economic area, has a large variation of wealth among its countries. As a continent, the economy of Europe is currently the largest on Earth. AUM Warhawks had the chance to discover and learn the European Economy with Professor Jeff Bates from the College of Public Policy & Justice.
The metropolitan France is a culture profound country with long history, and it has long been a global center of art. AUM students had an educational trip to study French culture through an examination of art and architecture with the goal of academic enrichment.
Galápagos Islands are known for their vast number of endemic species all over the world. AUM Study Abroad Galapagos Islands Ecology Program provided our students an opportunity to explore the conditions of the islands and the animals that inhabited.
Culture in German states has been shaped by major intellectual and popular currents in Europe, both religious and secular. AUM Warhawks was able to have a two-week culture excursion to Germany to observe intercultural communication and barrier to intercultural communication.
For centuries divided by politics and geography, Italy has developed a unique culture with tremendous fantastic arts and architectures. AUM students visited Italy for a two-week trip to observe how the arts and architectures influence the country, and experience the profound culture environment.
As a sovereign island nation in East Asia, Japan has developed to the third largest national economy in the world. AUM Warhawks took a long-distance travelling to Japan to examine the Japanese culture, consumers and technology. Students visited many Japanese universities in the Tokyo, Nagoya and Kyoto area.
Japan – University of Shiga Prefecture
The University of Shiga Prefecture (USP) is located in the city of Shiga, Kansai area of Japan. AUM and USP have connected with a reciprocal exchange program. AUM students had great experiences in USP to learn the Japanese language and culture through both summer program and semester program.
East Africa island country – Madagascar is a biodiversity hotspot; over 90% of its wildlife is found nowhere else on Earth. AUM students traveled with their professors from the Biology Department to visit a variety of island habitats to observe and learn about organisms endemic, ecological threats to wildlife, conservation measures, and to explore issues regarding environmental sustainability in Madagascar.
AUM students who took summer Spanish language class took travels to the City of San Cristobal de Las Casas in the southern state of Chiapas, Mexico, for intensive language and culture study coupled with experiences in the indigenous communities.
Mexico – Tecnológico de Monterrey
The Tecnológico de Monterrey is also known as the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM), which is a high ranking university in Mexico. AUM and ITESM have connected with a reciprocal exchange program. AUM students had great experiences in ITESM during summer to learn the language and profound Mexican culture.
South Korea – Daegu Hanny University
Daegu Hanny University (DHU) in South Korea specializes in traditional Korean medicine education and Korean culture communication. AUM and DHU built up a friendship bridge two years ago. AUM students visited DHU during summer period to learn the Korean language and culture, especially to explore the Korean medicine through herbal medicine, cosmetic, skin care, etc.
South Korea – University of Ulsan
Located in the city of Ulsan which has been recognized as the Korean city with the corporate base of the multinational Hyundai conglomerate, the University of Ulsan (UOU) is focus on the tradition and industrialization of Korea. AUM and UOU has established the partnership since 2012. AUM students are able to study at UOU under long-term (1-2 semesters) program, or learn Korean language and culture during summer period.
As the fourth largest country in the European continent and five largest economy in the European Union, Spain plays an important role in the world. AUM students spent approximately two weeks in Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona in Spain, to study the global finance, international trade, the impact of the Great Recession and resulting sovereign debt crisis on the economy, the operation of monetary and banking policy, the rise of “culture based” economies in local areas, the impact of Brexit, etc.
Sri Lanka is the home to many cultures, languages, and ethnicities. AUM students had a two-week field experience exploring the religion of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and folk religion, and experiencing how the various religions engage in syncretism in the communities.
Trinidad and Tobago
The South American twin island country – Trinidad and Tobago is the third richest country in the Americas. Sports are popular in this country. AUM students took an educational trip to Trinidad and Tobago to study the globalization of sport as a tool for sport for development and the ethical issues in sport.
