International Student Orientation

International Student Orientation is designed to assist you with the transition to the United States. You will learn about academics in the United States, hear from professors, meet fellow students, and take a tour of the campus and Montgomery, Alabama. Breakfast and lunch is provided each day. It is imperative to bring your passport, Form I—20, and immunization/vaccine form to orientation.

Orientation days are planned to provide you with the necessary information to get around campus comfortably and find where to go. Not only will you get to know others who are attending AUM, but also meet the administration and staff of AUM. Orientation day is your day to become a Warhawk.

Please bring your student number, travel documents, and passport to check-in. A light breakfast will be provided during check-in. You will receive your student ID in the Bookstore and complete your health forms.

OGI presents requirements for your Student Visa status while at AUM. Details include: F1 status, working on or off campus, the number of classes you must take and more.

  10:40am - 11:00am Insurance Enrollment

OGI presents information on the United Healthcare Insurance Plan for international students. We will give tips on the enrollment process, how to login to your United account online, and the guidelines of the insurance.

  11:00am - 11:20am Life in the USA

OGI presents on things to do in Montgomery, Alabama. Details: Customs of the United States and ask questions about life in the USA.

A representative from Campus Police will share information about parking on campus, interacting with students, laws in Alabama, and more.

A representative from ITS will share information about Wi-Fi on campus, the Help Desk, email concerns, and more.

Matt Kemp will address the importance of using your own work while at AUM through an interactive workshop.

The SWOT Team will share information pertaining to resources on campus for all AUM students such as Student Health Services, Counseling and Health Promotions, Food Pantry, and more.

Your orientation leader will help guide you on a campus scavenger hunt to become familiar with key locations on campus. Prizes will be given at completion of the scavenger hunt!

All Over Campus
  1:50pm - 3:30pm Late arrivals Math Placement Test

You will complete the Math placement test in order to complete the requirement for registering for classes. You must have your Student ID and student number to take the test. This test will decide which mathematics class you begin with at Auburn University at Montgomery. Please use your time and test to your fullest ability.

  3:30pm - 5:30pm Pizza and Game Evening

Your orientation leader will help guide you on a campus scavenger hunt to become familiar with key locations on campus. Prizes will be given to those that successfully complete the scavenger hunt and end at Warhawk Alley! Pizza and games will be provided!
