Alumni Association accepting nominations for Board of Directors through July 31

The Auburn University at Montgomery Alumni Association Board of Directors is accepting nominations for membership for the 2014-16 Board of Directors. You may nominate yourself or you may nominate another person. If you nominate another person, please request their permission to do so. Nominations must be received in the AUM Office of Advancement by 5 p.m. on July 31.

Auburn University at Montgomery was founded in 1967. We will celebrate our 50th birthday in four short years. Since we are a young university, there are many opportunities for growth. Board membership is one opportunity to help plan for that growth. Members will be asked to lend their expertise and experience to provide vision and direction as we prepare for the conclusion of the first 50 years and the commencement of the second 50 years.

Additional information:

  1. To be eligible for membership, you must be a member of the Alumni Association. Please consider joining at the lifetime level.
  2. A term is two calendar years. Therefore, the 2014-16 term will begin on Jan. 1, 2014 and expire Dec. 31, 2016.
  3. The Board of Directors feels that we must lead by example; therefore, we ask that, at a minimum, you be willing to:
    • attend the three board meetings each year;
    • participate in association activities; and
    • support the university through philanthropic gifts.
  4. There are other opportunities for service including Board of Directors Ad Hoc Committees.
  5. Meetings are typically held in the Office of Advancement shared conference area (usually in the Homebuilders Association of Alabama second floor conference room) or on campus (usually in the Ida Belle Young Library Tower).

  • January
  • June
  • October

Examples of association activities in which you have an opportunity to participate:

  • Greeting Auburn Montgomery alumni at Auburn University home football games at the Alumni Association tent (a ticket to the game will be offered to those volunteering for this activity)
  • Homecoming Reception
  • Develop new programs to increase scholarships
  • Others as identified by the board
