Lurleen B. Wallace Community College students to complete studies at AUM

The first class of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College students to transfer to Auburn University at Montgomery since the two schools formed a partnership are set to begin classes at AUM in the fall. See who's coming to AUM

Curtiss goes to camp, wins national awards

CurtissTrophies_blastAUM mascot Curtiss the Warhawk was awarded Best Up and Coming Program for the second year in a row at the Universal Cheerleading Association's Collegiate Camp held at the University of Alabama in July. The friendly bird of prey also shared a team-building award with the University of Mississippi’s Rebel the Bear and won Superior and Excellent ribbons. Check out Curtiss' trophies

Theatre AUM holding auditions for The Pulitzer Project on Aug. 18

Theater AUM will hold auditions for The Pulitzer Project on Monday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. at the theatre in the Taylor Center. Auditioners must prepare a monologue from a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, and may also prepare 16 bars of a song if they wish to. Performances of The Pulitzer Project are scheduled for Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. Read more about Theatre AUM

The Roost is getting a facelift, will be closed through Aug. 15

RoostRenovate_blastThe Roost will be closed through Aug. 15 to complete minor renovations, but don't worry if you get hungry. The AUMazing Bean will feature fresh penne, sandwiches, salads, and other to-go offerings. The AUMazing Bean is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Roost invites you to stick your head in the café if you're in the neighborhood to see the renovations over the next couple of weeks and share their excitement about the fresh look and new menu items coming in the fall.

Campus Greek groups engage in annual leadership training

NPHC140725_blastThe AUM chapter of the National Panhellenic Council held their annual leadership training on July 25, facilitated by Dr. Carl Cunningham from the University of South Alabama. The students participated in sessions on personality styles, council history, and personal branding. Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, and Sigma Gamma Rho participated in the training.

Dr. Goldy
Brown III
Please join the Department of Counselor, Leadership, and Special Education in welcoming Dr. Goldy Brown III to the Instructional Leadership faculty. Brown received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the area of educational leadership and policy analysis. Brown brings to the department and its teacher candidates his experiences as a middle school teacher and, most recently, an instructional leader of an elementary school. His research interests include evidenced-based practices that support the achievement of low resource students in demographically diverse schools. According to Brown, he plays a little golf as well.

Hayden Hillyer
Bryan Young
Baseball standouts Hayden Hillyer and Bryan Young have been voted to the Capital One Baseball Academic All-America Second Team for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Capital One Academic All-America College Division Baseball Team comprises student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.


Q.V. Lowe
Baseball coaching legend Q.V. Lowe is one of nine inductees in the 2014 class of the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame. Other inductees include Gabe Gross, Mike Helms, Mary Hickman, Jon Johnson, Charles Kelly, Steve Lowery, Terry Sellers and Don Sutton. This year's class was inducted Saturday at the 22nd annual induction ceremony and dinner at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan.
