The Fourth of July comes to campus a little early with preschoolers on parade Thursday

2013ECC4thJulyParade_blastBegin your Independence Day celebration at the Early Childhood Center’s annual Fourth of July parade on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. on the Quad. Commencing from the side entrance of AUM’s Education Building and looping through the Quad, AUM’s youngest students will be decked out in red, white and blue while riding on bikes, trikes and wagons. Housed in the AUM School of Education, the accredited Early Childhood Center was established in 1974 and is open to children ages 3-5, regardless of AUM affiliation. The center strives to develop self-directed, self-disciplined, self-responsible children who have a passion and enthusiasm for life, learning and helping others. Softball coaching staff earns national award from NFCA

SoftballCoachingStaff_blastFollowing its run to the national championship in May, the Warhawks softball coaching staff has been honored by the National Fastpitch Coaching Association as the 2014 NAIA National Coaching Staff of the Year. Led by head coach Chris Steiner-Wilcoxson, assistant coach Scottie Wilkes and student assistant Emma Johansen, the Warhawks finished the season 44-7 en route to the program's first national championship. AUM rattled off a school-record 21-game winning streak during the 2014 season while claiming the Southern States Athletic Conference regular season championship with a 25-1 record. Read more at

People at AUM

Jade Curtis
Warhawks women’s tennis standout Jade Curtis was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The program is designed to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and classroom performances. Curtis has enjoyed a decorated career on the court at AUM, but also sports a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average, majoring in communications.

Othmane Lalami
Following a junior season in which he earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors, Warhawks men’s tennis standout Othmane Lalami was announced as the recipient of the 2014 ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award for the South Region. The honor recognizes outstanding individuals in all divisions at the regional and national level. The award, which dates to 1982, goes to men's and women's players who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
