Warhawks continue championship quest at World Series on Saturday

The Auburn Montgomery softball team will head to Columbus, Ga., this week to compete at the 2014 NAIA Softball World Series. The 10-team event will take place from May 23-29 at the South Commons Softball Complex, the facility that was home to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. The Warhawks (40-6) earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will await the winner of No. 7 seed Lindsey Wilson and No. 10 seed College of Idaho. The game will be played on Saturday, May 24, at 4 p.m. EDT.

Cheaney named new Warhawks men's basketball head coach

Michael Cheaney has been named the new head men’s basketball coach at Auburn Montgomery. A coaching veteran with more than 15 years of experience at the NAIA level, as well as stops at NCAA Division I, II and III institutions, Cheaney takes over the helm of the Warhawks after spending the past four seasons as the head coach at Voorhees College in Denmark, S.C. He becomes just the third men’s basketball coach in AUM history, joining Herbert Greene and Larry Chapman. Read more about Michael Cheaney

Speech and Hearing Clinic offering hearing aid demos Monday and Tuesday for Better Hearing and Speech Month

To recognize Better Hearing and Speech Month and raise awareness of speech and hearing issues, the AUM Speech and Hearing Clinic will offer hearing aid demonstrations by appointment on Monday and Tuesday (May 19 and 20). Anyone who is concerned they may be experiencing hearing loss is encouraged to call the Speech and Hearing Clinic at 244-3408 to schedule an appointment to learn more about the latest in hearing aid technology. It's not all about hearing - here are some things you should know about hearing loss and your health

Human Resources offering several professional development opportunities in June

The Office of Human Resources is filling June with plenty of opportunities for professional development. Check these out:
  • Wednesday, June 4 - Time Management
9 - 10:30 a.m., Young Tower, 10th floor East Room
Participants will discover what key tasks require the most focus, how to set realistic timelines and goals, and what are common time wasters. How will you benefit? By learning how to Identify specific areas where you can implement a small change to increase efficiency and discovering strategies that you can use to take advantage of your personal "peak performance" times.
  • Wednesday, June 18 - Effective Delegation Skills
9 - 10:30 a.m., Young Tower, 10th floor East Room
Letting go of control of a project can be difficult and scary. Explore when, how, and what tasks you can consider delegating, and how to create accountability for projects assigned. Effectively communicating the task and expectations will also be discussed. How you will benefit - effective delegation allows you to work smarter, not harder, and also creates an opportunity to develop an employee in a specific skill set or experience. Learn how to get the most from your team.
  • Thursday, June 19 - Intimate Partner Violence on the College Campus: Safety Precautions for Students and Staff
9 - 10:30 a.m., Goodwyn Hall 112
Melanie Beasley with the Family Sunshine Center will show students, faculty and staff the warning signs of violence, prevention and awareness strategies, how to have healthy personal relationships, and what resources are available should they find themselves or someone else in need.
  • Tuesday, June 24 - Creating an Environment of Customer Service
9 - 10:30 a.m., Young Tower, 10th floor East Room
Today's business environment is tough, and no organization can afford to lose customers. Learn how to increase your ability to WOW a student, customer or coworker by discussing best practices and new approaches, and hearing customer success stories from other employees on campus. You will benefit by discovering new techniques and strategies to approach consistent challenges when dealing with customers and students.

Warhawks tennis seasons end at NAIA National Championships

Both the men's and women's
tennis teams suffered upsets at the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, with the men losing in the semifinals and the women in the quarters.
