Auburn University at Montgomery junior second baseman Trevor Sprowl was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 26th round, pick number 793, of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Players Draft.

Sprowl became the first Warhawk drafted since Cory McGinnis was chosen in the 22nd round of the 2012 Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

During his junior campaign at AUM, Sprowl started 50 games and posted a .295 batting average with 13 doubles, two home runs and 34 runs batted in. He scored 33 times and swiped seven bases in nine attempts. He finished tied for the team lead in multi-RBI games with eight, including one game with four batted in. He also recorded multiple hits in 15 games and hit in a season-high 11 straight games.

In his first series with the Warhawks, Sprowl collected four hits, including a pair of doubles, drove in three and scored five times in a sweep of then-No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan. He tallied a season-best four RBIs against nationally-ranked Belhaven in AUM's regular-season finale and added a critical three-run double against then-No. 4 Faulkner in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament.

Prior to his arrival to AUM, Sprowl played two seasons at Shelton State Community College. While with the Bucs, he hit .264 with 14 doubles, four triples and a home run, while driving in 58 runs. He also made 24 appearances on the mound, posting a 3-6 record with a 3.22 earned run average. Sprowl earned Second-Team All-Region 22 honors and First-Team All-Alabama Community College Conference North Division accolades as a sophomore. In his first season, he helped Shelton to a 40-23 record and a third-place finish in the 2012 JUCO World Series. Sprowl spent the 2013 Fall semester at the University of Alabama.

The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native was also chosen by the Braves in the 2013 MLB Draft in the 33rd round out of Shelton State.
