AUM junior invited to audition for professional theatres

Auburn Montgomery junior Tina Neese, a communication and dramatic arts major from Montgomery, has been passed through the Alabama Conference of Theatre to the regional level of the Southeastern Theatre Conference professional acting auditions in both the acting and singing categories.

The conference vigorously screens and accepts only 30 percent of undergraduate, graduate and semiprofessional actors competing for coveted audition spots at the Spring Convention. In March, Neese will audition for more than 100 theatre companies for future employment. 

A graduate of Booker T. Washington Magnet High School, Neese has starred in several productions at Theatre AUM including “A Delicate Balance,” “The Great Easter Egg Hunt,” “Servant of Two Masters,” “Six Characters in Search of an Author,” and “Doubt.” When she is not performing in a show for Theatre AUM, she can be found backstage working as sound and/or light board operator or stage manager.

For the past two summers, she has worked with Theatre West Virginia, where her roles have included Alifair in “Hatfields and McCoys,” Nikko the flying monkey in “The Wizard of Oz,” and a fence wife in the new musical “Rocket Boys.” She has also served as the fight and pyro assistant for the theatre.

In addition to the honor of participating in professional theatre auditions this spring, Neese was also recently nominated for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival National Stage Management Fellowship.
