The Association of Government Accountants (AGA) has appointed Keren Deal, an associate dean and accounting professor in the AUM School of Business, to three national leadership roles for 2013-2016.

Deal has been named by the AGA’s National Executive Committee to the following posts:

  • Vice Chair of the editorial board for the Journal of Government Financial Management, an international journal published quarterly by AGA and read by government financial managers in federal, state and local government, as well as in the private and academic sectors.
  • Regional Vice President for the Gulf Region of the AGA, which includes nine local chapters in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana.
  • One of nine U.S. members of the AGA Professional Ethics Board.

Deal served as an accountant for the State of Alabama for seven years before joining the faculty at her alma mater in 2000. She received a B.S. in accounting in 1992 and an M.B.A. in 1995 from AUM, in addition to a Ph.D. in public administration from Auburn University in 2007. She currently serves as associate dean for undergraduate studies for the School of Business.
