Note: Historical Papers must be received by the due date to ensure sufficient time for judges to read them. Due date for papers is March 5, 2012.

Entry Fees:  If paying by money order or school check, the fee is $25. If using a credit card/debit card or the pay-by-check feature in PayPal, student entry fees are $27, which covers the cost of the convenience fee charged to Alabama History Day by Paypal. Parents may save the $2 convenience fee by mailing a check directly to the address above.

The two best entries in each category, and in each age division at the State contest will be eligible to compete at the national level, which will be held at the University of Maryland, College Park, June 10-14, 2012. For details regarding competition rules see the National History Day Web site.

Educational Support
History Day supports and reinforces the efforts of teachers by emphasizing basic writing, reading and research skills. The program takes education beyond the classroom, encouraging the use of libraries historical societies and museums. Most importantly, the program stimulates and rewards student initiative, creativity, and excellence.
