Broadway veterans visiting Montgomery for one-night performance to benefit School of Liberal Arts
The bright lights of Broadway will shine on Montgomery on April 5 for "A Night Out: On Broadway!" at the Alabama Activities Center at 6:30 p.m. From "Porgy and Bess" to "Ring of Fire," the event will feature the vocal talents of Broadway veterans who will share tunes from their productions in a one-night only review benefiting the Auburn Montgomery School of Liberal Arts.
The event will feature Abe Reybold, who has starred in "Grand Hotel," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Will Rogers Follies;" Allison Blackwell from "Porgy and Bess" and "Ragtime;" and Beth Malone from "Ring of Fire," "BINGO!" and "The Marvelous Wonderettes."
"We are bringing some of Broadway’s finest singers to Montgomery for what promises to be a spectacular evening of entertainment," said Neil David Seibel, Director of Performance Studies and Assistant Professor of theatre. "You don’t have to travel to New York to experience great musical theatre."
In addition to the Broadway review, the event will include dinner, drinks, music and dancing, as well as a few surprises. Silent and live auctions will feature unique items, including house seats to Broadway’s "Cinderella" followed by a post-show coffee date with actor Andy Mills, who was voted one of Broadway’s Sexiest Men in 2012. Disney fans will enjoy bidding on a live phone call from the voice actor who brings Dr. Doofenshmirtz to life on the Disney Channel animated series "Phineas and Ferb."
Tickets are $100 per person or $1,000 per table. Proceeds will benefit scholarships and programs in the AUM School of Liberal Arts, which includes the departments of Communication and Dramatic Arts, English and Philosophy, Fine Arts, Foreign Languages, and History and Sociology. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.
