For Students@AUM

Pre-social work students active in the community

Students in AUM's pre-social work program have been busy serving residents in the local communityStudents in AUM's pre-social work program have been busy serving residents in the local community. In March, in honor of National Social Work Month, students Lamesha Daniels, Tierra Oliver, Deamber Hoyle and LaPortia Wright served Montgomerians of all ages. First, the students helped organize and implement the Alabama Bankers Association’s financial literacy and living seminar "Living Money Smart." The students attended stations and help set up during the mock life-sized game of "Life," during which children learned about the kinds of responsibilities and financial commitments adults have to manage.

Students in AUM's pre-social work program have been busy serving residents in the local community.

Then the students turned their attention to some of Montgomery's elder citizens in the Richardson Terrace residential community. The students became teachers, passing along their knowledge of computers to the senior residents. And then they were students once again, gaining a little wisdom collected through the years by their new friends.
