Come 'feed' on AUM's academic brains at ZombieFest on Oct. 30
Zombies love brains, and where better to find brains than a college campus? The 2012 AUM ZombieFest is a one-evening symposium in which faculty from across the university will discuss their area of academic study as it relates to the theme of zombies. The idea is to foster interactions between faculty and students and learn a little more about academics at AUM.
There also will be a Most Authentic Zombie contest with prizes, sponsored by the AUM Bookstore. So dress as your favorite zombie and bring your appetite for brains to ZombieFest on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Goodwyn Hall 109. Here's what the expert zombies will be feeding on:
- "How to build a better zombie: the physiology of zombie making." A look at zombies in nature and the practical application for the production of human zombies.
- Chelsea Ward, Biology, School of Sciences
- "Counseling for the zombie apocalypse."
- Paul Hard, Counselor, Leadership and Special Education, School of Education
- "Quality and safety care for the zombie client." A discussion of the IOM recommendations and QSEN tenets in relation to the disparities of the zombie population.
- Christy Rials, School of Nursing
- "Zombies in the classroom: Active brains taste better." An exploration of participatory learning and making sure zombies don't go hungry.
- Jessica Broussard, Foundations and Secondary Education, School of Education
- "Inside the zombie brain."
- Rodney Roosevelt, Psychology, School of Sciences
