Managers of state agencies offered solutions to some of Alabama’s most challenging issues at the 2012 Solutions Alabama program on Friday in the auditorium of the Alabama Capitol. Hosted by Auburn Montgomery’s Alabama Training Institute, the program highlights students in AUM’s Certified Public Manager (CPM) program and how they approach critical issues impacting the state.

Composed of state employees from across Alabama, CPM students have spent the past year working to find solutions to critical issues identified by state leaders as having the potential to hinder the state’s progress or adversely impact its citizens.

“The students in the CPM program represent some of state government’s top experts in their fields,” said Leslie Meadows, Director of the CPM program. “The Solutions Alabama project has allowed these managers to demonstrate their knowledge, apply their expertise in unique ways and identify strategies that have a significant impact on our state and region.”

Friday’s presentations focused on several key areas relevant to:

  • Alabama Construction Recruitment Institute
  • Alabama Department of Mental Health: Cohesive Restructuring of Financial Operations
  • Alabama Real Estate Commission: Upgrading Image Systems
  • Auburn Montgomery: University Success and Orientation
  • Downtown Montgomery Parking
  • Meth Lab Cleanup
CPM presenters tackled several challenges and offered practical solutions.

The nationally accredited CPM program at the Alabama Training Institute has provided comprehensive management training to hundreds of leaders across Alabama for more than 20 years. Dynamic and engaging, the program seeks to develop and enhance the skills of managers in Alabama – inspiring new ways of thinking and innovative approaches to problem solving.

Techniques learned in the CPM program can be utilized in any work environment and bring a renewed perspective to work units and agencies as a whole. The program is a helpful tool for government organizations, particularly during lean times, as managers are forced to rethink their approaches and pioneer methods that allow their agencies to save time, effort and money.

The Alabama Training Institute is a unit of Auburn Montgomery Outreach that serves as the resource for customized training and professionally accredited programs designed for the public sector.
